I've been following the Fanlib debacle religiously this past week. In case you don't know what Fanlib is check out their site and read metafandom. You'll understand what this wank is all about quickly. *cough* Fanlib is evil. *cough*
Anyway, Fanlib is infamous for it's widely inaccurate slogan:
"The world's greatest fan fiction by popular demand."
I checked the site's front page and it's now been changed to:
"A fun place to write, share and review fan fiction."
(Note the incorrect usage of commas.) Could it be that Fanlib has read some of the fandom wank? We know Chris Williams, Fanlib's founder, trolls LJs leaving whiney comments begging LJers to stop feeling offended by Fanlib.
But could Fanlib have actually realized that they don't have the best fanfic and that their site is certainly not by popular demand? I beg to differ that, by popular demand, their site should be closed or at the very least have a major overhaul of its policies and mission statement.
I think we should start an online petition asking for Fanlib to close down or change its ways. We need to do something to show how big our numbers are. There are a lot of people upset over this and if we act quickly maybe we can get our voice heard.
