FF.net gone ad crazy?
9th-Jun-2007 11:41 pm
Ian McKellen
I've noticed FF.net has displayed some weird behavior for the last couple of days and I'm curious if this is something other's have seen. When I first click on a story to read the story loads and every single line of text on the page is a hyperlink, which if you unfortunatly click by accident as I did, takes you do a big pop-up ad. Plus my firewall has been reporting blocking several popups from the site.

Now I wasn't logged in when I saw this issue and when I pressed "reload" ("refresh" in IE) the problem went away. I just updated my browser, Opera 9.2, so that could be the problem.

However, I'm curious if other people have seen this or if I just got some spyware and I'm overreacting.

Well I logged on yesterday using Firefox and it all seemed absolutely fine to me. The only difference I noted was the fact you have to insert the numbers along with your password on the homepage now! Oooh, they're getting paranoid. XD Heh.

The image verification thing was caused by FanLib.com asking users to put in their FF.net usernames and passwords to import their stories. It was misappropriating gullible user's passwords.
