"If we had a keen vision and feeling of all ordinary human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow and the squirrel's heart beat, and we should die of that roar which lies on the other side of silence." - from George Eliot’s Middlemarch
Lately, I've fallen in love with a new ship. I've been watching reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation and I've started to enjoy the William Riker/Diana Troi ship. On the show, they're previous lovers who have fleeting moments of reuniting with each other between nearly endless one night stands with passengers on the star ship enterprise. They're relationship is like something from the Loveboat. It's such a puzzle what the two actually feel about each other at any given time.
But the real puzzle is why I like them so much.
I don't understand. I was much more of a Patrick Stewart/Jean-Luc Piccard fan in the past. Riker is not my type of man and I'd relate to Deanna Troi. However, I'm fascinated by them and I'm watching till the end of the series and then the movies to eventually see them get married in Star Trek Nemesis.
